Career Counselling/Work Stress

The pressing amounts of work, fear of losing one’s job, pushing oneself to work for a longer period of time to the point of exhaustion, can lead to intense unhealthy changes in an Individuals physical and emotional health, and these changes can be considered as work stress. When anindividual begins to feel isolated or feels that they no hope or energy to continue; then this is more serious issue called burnout where the person needs to take necessary precautions to heal from burnout.

Burnout can look like: Little or no motivation towards the work which at one point was very interesting for you, Insomnia, feeling Emotionally overwhelming, Amplified Anxiety, Exhaustion and Easily Triggered.

Stressors are situations or incidents that are the causes of stress. Work stress may be caused by two reasons: Organisational and Individual stressors. Organisational stressors are situations and incidents that cause stress in the work place due to the work itself, while individual stressors are  personal situations and incidents that create stress in the work place.

  • Stress at work is fairly common and the first step one needs to take towards getting better would be to identify stressors and deal with them so that you can be productive at work; therapy will help you do just that.
